Saturdays are not the only opportunity to work at the Avalon. We also need help during the week. If you are free and can put in a few hours during the week, please call Chuck (303-786-8502) for the best time to meet.
Our goal is not only to build the physical infrastructure for a dance center, but also to build a community of people that will enjoy this facility and build a strong and cohesive dance community with Avalon as their base for many years to come. Our belief is that a broad participation in the construction phase will give more people a sense of ownership and participation which will benefit the operation of the Avalon in the future.
What to bring:
Bring ordinary work clothes, gloves, hearing protection. We will have tools on hand. No tools or experience with building is needed. There will be plenty of simple tasks that will need to be done.
Please let us know if you're coming!
It would be helpful for us to know if you plan to participate so we can provide the right amount of food for lunch. You can come and go as it suits your schedule. Please send an email to Jim X at avd@columbine.net or Ingvar Sodal at sodaling@norsk.us if you plan to attend.
2005, 2006, and 2007 were busy. We demolished much of the old building interior, built a fine cushioned dance floor, hung acoustical materials, revised the air-conditioning, and generally spruced up the building and grounds. It was a tremendous amount of work, and the result is very exciting. The Avalon has already been the venue for many enjoyable dance parties and many more are planned for the new year.
But there is still much work to be done before everything is completed. We hope you will help us in the upcoming months.
